STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's lacrosse team will see its first action of the 2013 season this Sunday when it plays host to the Stanford Playday preseason tournament.

Teams competing in the playday include Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rivals Fresno State, UC Davis, California and St. Mary's. The event will begin at 9 a.m. (PT).

Each team will play a total of four games in a round-robin format. Games will consist of two 25-minute halves with a running clock and a five-minute halftime.

Matches will take place on the Stanford Turf Field (adjacent to Steuber Rugby Field) and on Maloney Field (located directly behind Cagan Stadium). Admission to the event is free.

Stanford returns nine starters and 16 letterwinners from a 2012 team that finished with an 8-10 overall record (5-2 MPSF). The team will be captained by seniors Elizabeth Adam and Carolyn Bradley, and 2012 all-conference selection Anna Kim. Goalkeeper Lyndsey Munoz, midfielders Hannah Farr and Nina Swanson are also all-conference returners.

Stanford opens its regular season on Saturday, Feb. 16, at home against Notre Dame at 3 p.m.
