A sensational athlete, Robert Horry, once said that "pressure can burst a pipe or pressure can make a diamond." SWG definitely made some ridiculously dazzling diamonds this past week, especially on Friday's game day. We split the team in half and created two separate teams (Hot Tamales and Goblins) to compete against one another. Going head to head on each event, the girl who performed the better routine earned one point. The team with the most points at the end of the competition received a personal day. Thus naturally, we were extremely hungry. This potential award elicited unseen competitiveness that built our confidence in every way possible. Everyone was hitting routines and definitely stepping up in every pressure situation.

We began at vault with huge Yurchenko fulls from CJ, Blur, Dan Dan, and JP. A-mo and Dayton closed the rotation with insane Yurchenko halves. At this point, the Hot Tamales were down three points, but redeemed themselves on beam, earning those points back with beautiful beam routines from Dan Dan and Peaches. A-mo, T, and CJ also executed very dynamic routines. The excitement built and transferred to the floor and bar rotations. We saw some gorgeous bar sets from Peaches, Brownie, Shell, and CJ and a nearly perfect one from JP. Floor was great all around with Shell doing her full-in, CJ doing her double Arabian, and Peaches performing a huge triple full. In the end, the Hot Tamales won in a sudden death tiebreaker back tuck landing contest. Aside from this, the pressure to perform bigger and better than one's opponent brought out the best in all of us, raising our own levels of expectation and building confidence. And this was a great occurrence because indeed, we did create diamonds. : )

Prior to this game day, we tuned into our creative side and dressed in costumes we made for Halloween. The senior class was the royal flush, the juniors were Mario and Luigi, the sophomores became the many different Nintendo characters, and the froshies transformed themselves into the cutest double stuffed Oreo cookie imaginable. Kristen, Chris, Mike, and Lindsey dressed as the Scooby Doo characters. So epic. Well, that's basically what's been going on here on campus. Hope you all had as much fun as we did this Halloween weekend. Check in next week for another update!

Thanks,
Weedge
