November 3, 2006

We had a fun beginning to our Halloween practice. Our areas for getting ready for super spirit days and Halloween have been established with all the frosh getting ready in one bathroom stall; its part of their bonding time. The sophomores were the first to make an appearance with our signature hair spray color. We were H20 and we sprayed our hair blue and dressed in all blue. We had sparkles all over us and we had H20 written all over, but it still hasn't come off all the way. The Freshman were Air Froshners, FYGS scented. They actually sprayed themselves with air freshener too. The Juniors were a Junior Mint package, with Tabby and Steph being two mints. It was cute. They also had a little animation were the package ripped open and Tab and Steph fell out. They coaches came in as X-men. Kristen was Storm and had a really scary wig on! It was a fun time before our practice began.

We have been talking a lot about our goals for the year and doing a lot of pressure sets lately. We have done each event and it's been really exciting because they have been going really well. The part is that only six girls get up in the line up for pressure sets, but we have other girls that could step in at any time. It's nice to have more depth this year. It's also really good for our gymnastics because it forces us to compete for spots in the line up. We have also been doing something new this year with our challenges. Twice a week, one of us makes up either a mental or physical challenge. They are really fun, but they make us think, or practice our gymnastics in a game type situation. All the conditioning and hard work we have been doing is really starting to show in our gymnastics. We are able to do more and be safe doing it. It's more fun when we are more confident in out skills and being stronger gives us that confidence. Having all the variety in practice and being able to do big gymnastics makes every practice fun.
