April 4, 2006

I cannot believe that the season and my career are almost over. We have Regionals this weekend, and I am really excited. At this point in the year, everyone is a little sore from competing so many weekends in a row. As we talked about in our team meeting at the end of practice today, this is the point in the season where our hearts and minds take over. We have to decide how bad we want it and dig deep. I know that this team wants it bad. We have invested way too much in our gymnastics and in each other to just treat these last meets lightly. We are hungry and determined, and we believe in ourselves and in each other. We know we have worked our butts off and that we are a fighting team.

As a senior, I have a sense of urgency to make this year really special. And I feel so incredibly blessed to have a team where everyone has the same sense of urgency as I do, senior or not. I truly see that every single girl on the team has invested her heart into this journey and everyone cares so much. Another thing I am so thankful for is how much fun we all have together. When I reflect on the season, I actually don't think about the meets first. I think about the times we have shared together outside of the gym, traveling together, riding in the vans together, taking crazy pictures, and laughing so hard that we cry. I know that these memories will last me a lifetime. I know the destination is important, but the journey is even more important, and this season has been one of the most enjoyable journeys of my life.
