February 6, 2006
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for checking in and keeping up with SWG! This past weekend was an exciting one for our team as we put in a good performance at CAL. We started off a bit shaky on bars but the team picked it up on vault and had an incredible line up. One of our performance goals for this week was to stick 5 out of 6 landings on every event and the girls on vault did a great job, we totaled four stuck landings. As we moved from vault to floor we could feel the momentum building and everyone was ready to hit. The highlight on floor this weekend was Liz's comeback. This was her first floor performance of the 2006 season and what a way to start. Way to go Liz! Beam was our final event and the past week in training we had really been focusing on improving our mental approach on this event. The preparation worked beautifully and the beam girls did a spectacular job. Purnell started us off with a solid routine and even more exciting was the fact that it was her first college routine ever! Beam continued going well and Aimee finished us on a high note with a stuck routine and a stuck landing…great job Precourt!
Another exciting thing this week was that it was Mike's birthday on Sunday. I won't say exactly how old he is but let's just say that he has already finished his ascent of the "hill." (Sorry Mike, I just couldn't resist!) We threw him a surprise birthday party on Sunday. We usually have practice at 1pm but Kristen and Chris changed practice to 10:30am without telling Mike. So when he arrived around 1pm we were finished with workout and ready and waiting in the office with party decorations and a great chocolate cake.
Well, that about sums up last week, except for one thing…midterms are in full swing now so it should be a pretty busy around here these next few weeks.
Thanks a lot for reading and have a great week.
Stacy
