Sept. 18, 2003
By Caroline Fluhrer
We kicked off our 2004 season at our team retreat at Lake Tahoe - what a gorgeous location! The new freshmen (Britt, Erin and Stacy) fit right in (as expected!) and the entire two days was spent recapping summer vacations and talking about all aspects of the upcoming year. Upon returning to campus, we moved into our new dorms for the year, which is an exhausting (yet exciting) process. I always love finding out my residences' theme, meeting my new neighbors and setting up my room.
On Wednesday, we had our first official team practice full of strength, conditioning, stretching and a bit of gymnastics. Everyone had such a great attitude and was so excited to be back in the gym, it was hard not to feel inspired and motivated! The coaches were also so supportive and enthusiastic; it was so much fun to have everyone together again! And I think everyone really loves Chris, our new assistant coach, as a great addition to our already great staff!
This weekend, we're all so excited to host several great recruits. We have some fun activities planned and know we'll have a great time. Classes start on Wednesday and everyone seems to have a pretty good idea of what they want to take (or at least shop). I absolutely cannot believe that it is my senior year. . . to be cliché, it seems like only yesterday that Lisé, Shelly, Lindsay, Kendall and I arrived on The Farm! Being in a class with these girls and becoming so close has meant more to me than anything at Stanford - I'm so grateful to have another year with them! I'm just so excited for this season and so proud to be a part of Stanford gymnastics. As a team, we hope you're as excited about this year as we are - Go Card!!!
