After an awesome winter break with family and friends, everybody came back excited for season. Since campus was still closed for break, we had to stay at the Creekside Inn until we were allowed to move back into our dorms. It was fun hanging out with all the girls and not having to worry about schoolwork.
On Friday we made goals for our season. We discussed where we wanted to be at the end of the year as well as our expectations for the first meet against Georgia. Talking about the upcoming competitions made everybody especially motivated and excited for the season, and it definitely showed in our workout. Throughout practice the energy remained high, which allowed for a great atmosphere and fun environment. Purnell and Weedge both nailed power bar sets with every routine they did. Gretchen impressed the entire gym every time she ran down the runway with her explosive vaults, and Steph continually rocked beam, hitting her skills without a single wobble. However, these were only a fraction of the numerous SWG highlights which happened last week.
On Sunday dorms were finally opened and people started moving back in to prepare for the start of classes next week. It was great to reunite with friends and share fun stories; however, the beginning of winter quarter snuck up fast. Already people are buying books from the Stanford bookstore and checking their classes online. More and more emails are being sent reminding students to sign up for sections while professors continue to prepare for the first day of classes. Everybody will be back to work in no time.
I hope you all had a great holiday and enjoyed your break! Go CARD!
