And so it begins...

After a great summer break, SWG finally began classes last week. Contrary to the feelings some other college students, I was so excited for this quarter to start. Despite the morning workouts and large stacks of books awaiting our attention, we had a great week! On Monday, the sophomores began their year-long trek through the Human Biology core, while some of the seniors enjoyed their last "first day of classes" at Stanford. It's difficult to imagine the start of a new year without six of my best friends, so I won't. ☺

On a happier note, our team has had some great practices! Everyday someone seems to do something amazing in the gym. We had an informal intrasquad on Wednesday that went incredibly well. Our freshmen, in particular, really stepped up showing half routines on bars and even a yurchenko 1 1/2 on vault. It's remarkable how much further along we are in our training this year compared to my two previous years. At the end of the week, we rallied together for super spirit day. The freshman, sophomore, and junior classes were creatively clothed in Stanford pride, hoping to exude the most spirit. But even with all our efforts, there was no topping the seniors who outdid themselves with sparkly capes, pom-poms, and matching "SENIORITY" t-shirts.

All in all, we've come a long way in just one week. With nine more still left in the quarter, I can't imagine the things we'll do. If I were you, I'd keep your eye on SWG. J Thanks for reading!
