Hey there SWG fans!
First of all, I want to say that I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Most of my teammates and I left campus for the break, but many came back for the football game on Saturday (Stanford beat Notre Dame!!). While I was at home for the holiday, I had some time to think about how grateful I am for the opportunity to be a part of the SWG family. I am so thankful for the good times that we have shared together as a group as well as the challenges that we have overcome. As the 2010 season approaches, my feelings of excitement about the chance to embark on yet another journey, write another chapter in SWG history, and contribute to the legacy that has made SWG what it is today, continue to grow.
Because we had a break from school this past week, we were able to spend some more time in the gym, and we definitely took advantage of that as we continued to work hard on the details that will set us apart at the end of the year. We had another successful Game Day on Sunday, with some of the highlights including Dani's extremely aggressive leadoff bar routine, Weedge's vault (MOBE!!), awesome new floor dance from the seniors, as well as A-Mo's routine with all of her tumbling out on the hard floor. On beam we mixed things up and decided to play a piece of music that the performer would hate, to see if they could block it out and focus on what they needed to do. In true SWG fashion, the girls performed well and were able to get the job done.
Finally, before heading home for break, the coaches had us pull one of the beams out into the hallway of the Ford Center. We had a couple of intrasquads out there to get the girls out of the their comfort zone. It wasn't all work though, as the coaches had us "warm up" for our last practice by playing dodgeball and volleyball. We are one competitive team, but it was a lot of fun and a great way to work together as a team before splitting up for the break.
Stay tuned for another update at the end of the week! Happy Holidays!! :)
