Hey SWG fans!
You can definitely tell that the competition season is quickly approaching as the team is looking stronger and stronger in the gym. Each week we are running through more intrasquads and rocking all of the challenges thrown at us.
This past week we were especially fired up as the excitement on campus rose with the upcoming Big Game (the biggest football game of the year against our rival Cal!). The fountains were dyed red, the always interesting performance, Gaieties, was shown each night and a pep rally on Thursday brought some great energy to campus. And we definitely carried that energy into the gym!
This past Sunday, SWG ran through a very competition-like intrasquad, where we battled top SEC schools through video. We watched a routine from an SEC school and then battled that routine, making the practice feel like a real competition. We started off the day on bars (to simulate an away meet), where the lineup made their routines look easy. Next, we headed to vault and drilled some HUGE vaults! Shelley's vault was exceptionally big and boy is it great to have Weedge back in the vault lineup.
After a short break we brought our energy to the floor where half of the lineup performed AMAZING new routines. Kristen has amazed us all again with her incredible choreography. We finished off the day on beam with solid routines from the entire lineup, showing that we are ready to take on any school this year!
SWG has one more practice together before we all head home to our families for Thanksgiving, but then we will be back together on Sunday for the final push before our first 2010 meet against Georgia. The team is fired up and can't wait to get back on the competition floor and show them what we're made of!
Thanks for checking in and Happy Thanksgiving!
Alyssa
