Hey SWG fans!

Another week has gone by and it is hard to believe that it's already time to go home for Thanksgiving break. As the other girls have mentioned, the chemistry of this year's team is really strong. This week we've been working a lot on channeling that energy into a competitive edge. The coaches have been putting us under lots of pressure situations where we have to battle it out for spots in the line-ups. One of my favorites is where we have six groups of two show cold beam sets with each pair battling for a spot, and then we run the winning lineup. It definitely brings out the best in everyone.

Some highlights from this week include having Allyse and Cat back to doing close to full beam routines, and Peach's (Nicole Pechanec) improvements on her bar routine. Shout out to Alyssa for being rock solid on everything!

This weekend was the Big Game against Cal, so the campus was alive with events and rallies all week. We got to see Allyse perform with her group dv8 at a hip-hop extravaganza and at halftime for the women's basketball game. The freshmen also got their first experience of Gaieties, which is a slightly inappropriate but very funny play put on by the students. On Saturday some of the girls made the trek over to Bear territory, while the rest of us had a relaxing day on campus. I'm a little bit jealous of Purnell though, who went horseback riding on the beach at Half Moon Bay!

All in all it has been a productive week in the gym. It is always a challenge to figure out the intricacies of each year's team, but it is through this process that we form an even stronger bond. The 2009 team is dedicated, passionate, and full of fresh energy. With these qualities and the foundation laid down by previous years, I am confident that this team will go far. Thanks for checking in!

PS- Be on the look out for "A day in the life of..." features on some of the SWG gymnasts. We're working on filming and editing a few right now!
