Our first week back in the gym after our cross-training week was awesome. We had a hard gymnastics/light conditioning week, so we got to see and do a lot more gymnastics, which was a lot more fun for everyone (even our trainer, Lindsey, commented that she liked hard gymnastics weeks!) It's also nice to see some girls who had some setbacks be able to do some gymnastics again! Shout out to Blair, Alyssa, and Gretch!
We have also been able to set up a depth chart to see who is ready to go on each event. It lets everyone know where they stand in the lineup and pushes people to step up in weaker areas. It is really exciting to see a majority of the team written down for a couple of events!
We set up a couple of intrasquads on Thursday with the possibility of earning our Friday morning weight workout off. We didn't quite make it on bars, but our beam lineup was solid and we earned a high enough score to earn the 7:00 a.m. weights off, which was a relief to everyone! On Friday, we ran through a dance lineup on floor. We have each person go through their floor routine while the rest of the team spreads out around the floor. The person doing the floor routine has to look at every person in the eyes and when that happens the person standing on the edge of the floor sits down. It's a great way to improve our presentation on floor and it's a lot of fun too.
All in all it was a great week. We even got to celebrate Kristen getting inducted into the Cal-Berkeley Hall of Fame on Friday! Congratulations to her. Our coaches are awesome! Check in again next week!
