Hey there Stanford fans,
Another exciting week has passed here on The Farm. Not only has it been exciting inside the gym, but also it was nice to see so much going on outside of the gym. There was everything from our first all-event game day and six awesome recruits, to homecoming and the football game.
After spending cross-training week playing water polo, dodgeball, and doing yoga, we were all thrilled to get back to our routine schedule in the gym. We finished off the week with an incredibly fun and exciting game-day where we had full lineups on each event. Blur started off vault with a huge Yurchenko full-in and from then on we just rocked it. Girls swung big bar halves and Amo upgraded her front tuck step out to round-off handspring double tuck to the floor pretty much on the stop. We ended on beam with everyone doing full routines and attacking their routines with confidence and fire. I am really excited to see what the next few months will bring, considering it's only October. As I look around the gym, I already see full routines and big gymnastics as well as a lot of girls, like Ming, Brownie, and Sko, working back into skills.
With many alumni returning for homecoming weekend, we were happy to welcome back many women's gymnastics alumni and have them stick around to watch game day. We also had six incredible recruits come visit for the weekend. On Saturday, the team had a morning brunch and then gave wallyball a try, which was quite a memorable experience. Wallyball is pretty much volleyball inside a racquetball court. There are no rules. You can use all the walls and the hit wallyball wherever and however you like. Skoly sure did embrace this concept and Cat left with a feeling that the ball had made an imprint on her forehead.
After wallyball, we headed over to watch our football team beat Arizona State 33-14. We all had a blast watching from our favorite front row seats near the 30-yard line and rooting the guys on with SWG's infamous and intense cheering along with frequent dancing. Allie and I got the occasional laugh from the cheerleaders after having memorized one of their routines to "All Right Now" and doing it along with them. All in all, it was an exciting and busy weekend. There's more exciting stuff in store for SWG, so make sure you check back in next week. I can't wait to see what crazy Halloween costumes our team is going to come up because I know some classes have been planning since August. SWG doesn't take things lightly, we go all out.
Go Cards!
