Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when we come for you!? Lincoln, Nebraska, here we come!!!! What are you gonna do?
In the middle of the first week of class in spring quarter, SWG headed off to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Regional competition. Despite the long travel day we had just endured, we had a great practice on Friday afternoon and generated much excitement for the competition ahead. That same night, our coaches gave us a fun activity to do, instructing us to do small skits representing three separate decades: the 80's, 90's, and the current decade. It was awesome to see our imagination, creativity, and memories of each of the decades take shape in hilarious forms of gesture and rhetoric. It was just an amazing time hanging out together and relaxing before the competition the next day.
Four o'clock marked the start of an exciting Saturday evening. Prepared and super pumped, we entered the Barnhill Arena at the University of Arkansas. Shelley started off the floor rotation with a huge hit routine, followed by Blur and Peach's combination of gorgeous dance and dynamic tumbling. Despite a small mistake, CJ stepped up with a great routine while T built the excitement even more and ended the rotation with an ENORMOUS hit. We moved on to vault and Blur began with an amazing stuck landing. Building momentum, Dani, CJ, Nikki, Shell, and Cat followed her lead, executing extremely well. Fee started bars with her usual consistency and skillfully performed an excellent routine with a ridiculous stuck dismount. We had four other great hits to maintain a fine ranking going into the balance beam. Despite another small mishap here, we performed well enough to clinch a second place finish and a qualification to the NCAA championships in Nebraska!
We are now ready to head back into the gym and prepare for the national championships in two weeks. It will be a great time building our confidence even more and getting excited for this wonderful opportunity ahead of us. Thanks so much for all of your support throughout season...check in next week to see how everything's going! Much love from SWG!
Thanks,
Weedge
