Hey SWG Fans!
It's been a great week out here on the Farm. Spring break has given us a much needed rest from schoolwork and has allowed us to focus more of our attention on gymnastics. In the gym we've been scaling back on numbers and ramping up the intensity to prepare for the rest of post-season. The beam was once again moved out into the hallway of the Ford Center, and we've grown to expect surprise intrasquads anytime and anyplace. Everyone has been responding well, which increases our confidence heading into the Regional competition this weekend.
The break has also given us the opportunity to spend a lot more time with each other out of the gym. On Tuesday, we had our annual homemade dinner with the men's gymnastics team which is always a lot of fun. We've also been watching movies, soaking in the hot tub, and supporting our fellow student-athletes at their competitions. Some of us escaped to the beaches at Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay on our days off as well.
One of the best things about this team is that we have fun together no matter what we're doing. This bond carries over onto the competition floor: we fully trust each other, and know that we've got each others' backs. But most of all, we love being together on the floor of a meet. It is this love for each other, the sport, and our program that motivates us to push through hard practices and to make the sacrifices that we do. From a technical standpoint, the regional competition this weekend is just one more step toward our goal of winning a national championship. But to the heart of this team, it is much more. It is one of only a few competitions we have left together, another chance to enjoy the feeling we get from letting all of our work and joy come through. This love and commitment to each other is the force that drives us to compete on the last day of the year, as a team, a unit, a family.
Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check in again next week!
