Hello SWG fans!!!
Well, I want to start off by saying thank you to all of those people who came out to support us at the Pac-10 championships this past weekend. We had a ton of fun and it was great to have the home crowd behind us.
This past week was finals week, so we were not able to train together as a team. However, everyone worked really hard all week to prepare for Pac-10’s. In addition to exams, we were in the middle of our two-week conditioning push, meaning that we had a lot of things to get done in the gym. The goal of the two hard weeks in a row is to get us in a position where we are in the best shape possible before we start to taper. The tapering process makes it so that our bodies are feeling great going into Regionals and Nationals. Shout out to the girls who had finals on Friday, only to turn around and compete on Saturday.
Although the Pac-10 competition didn’t go exactly the way that we had hoped, there were some really great moments. Carly Janiga is now the Pac-10 all-around champion, Shelley Alexander stepped up and did an awesome bar routine when we really needed her, and Nicole Ourada finally got the floor score that she deserved. We are going to use our mistakes as fuel as we train to get ready for our next competition, which is going to be held in Arkansas!!
Now we are finally on Spring Break and it feels great. It gives us some time to do team activities and to relax a little after a couple of really difficult weeks.
Thanks for checking in!!! :)
Carter
