Hey SWG Fans,

First of all I just want to say thank you to all who came out to support us at Maples yesterday. We truly appreciate all of your support and energy. Coming off an exciting competition last week, SWG was fired up to get back into the gym. This week we continued our focus on fixing details, so that we can save half-tenths and tenths on each routine. We have also been working on a lot of landing drills, so that our percentage of stuck landings will increase. "Own that legacy, work that SWaGger" has continued to be our team motto for this season and everyone has been working hard to carry themselves with a "swagger" and make each movement purposeful. We finished off our week with another exciting home meet against Oregon State and UC Davis.

Not only was it our last regular season home meet, but it was also Senior Day. A SWG tradition is that the underclassmen always pick a theme for the seniors and decorate the locker room and dress up the seniors according to the theme. Yesterday the underclassmen definitely outdid themselves with the theme "SeniOSCARS". They made the locker room into a dressing room for Heather, Fee and I and we had boas, sunglasses and some fun jewelry to march out in. They even went as far as getting us escorts and a red carpet! After all the excitement of marching out SWG had to focus in and get down to business.

We started off with five decent vaults, but the most exciting vault was Alyssa Brown's Yurchenko 1 1/2 to close off the rotation. Our bar rotation started off a bit rough with some uncharacteristic mistakes, but was closed off with several solid routines to keep the momentum going onto beam. We rocked six for six beam routines and definitely showed off the work we had been doing in the gym. Then it was on to our fourth and final rotation. It is so much fun to compete on floor in front of a home crowd and the energy was high as we finished off the competition with six solid floor routines. Overall it was a successful afternoon with room for improvement in many areas! Thanks for checking in and we will keep you posted as we head to Cal next weekend.

Nikki
