STANFORD, Calif. - After a successful 2012 season – which included an NCAA fourth-place finish – the Cardinal enters 2013 ranked sixth in GymInfo’s Top 25 preseason rankings.

The Cardinal continued to make its case as a national power in 2012 making its sixth NCAA Super Six appearance and becoming one of only four programs in the country to record at least three NCAA top-four finishes since 2008. Stanford also boasts five top-10 NCAA finishes in the past six years.

Stanford returns five of seven All-Americans after graduating just three from the 2012 roster, including NCAA uneven bars runner-up Samantha Shapiro and Ivana Hong, two-time All-America as a freshman. The team also returns Kristina Vaculik, a Canadian Olympian in London, who took a year off from school to train for the Games.

Stanford is one of six Pac-12 teams ranked among the top-20 in the poll – behind only No. 2 UCLA and No. 5 Utah.

The Cardinal begins its season on Jan. 4 at the NorCal Quad Meet at San Jose State. The team opens its home schedule on Feb. 2 in a Pac-12 dual against rival UCLA.
