STANFORD, Calif. - Only a few months after its' best-ever national finish, the Stanford women's gymnastics team earned further honors by placing seven gymnasts on the Academic All-America team.

Stanford, which captured third in the NCAA Super Six finals in April, was recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women for its academic achievements.

Senior human biology major Aimee Precourt (Pasadena, Texas) carried the team's highest grade-point average, at 3.96. She was nearly matched by Alex Pintchouk (Lawrenceville, N.J.), who had a 3.94 as a senior in international studies.

Junior Kelly Fee (St. Charles, Ill.) had a 3.61 in international relations, senior Lauren Elmore (Bloomington, Ind.) a 3.56 in economics, and senior Stacy Sprando a 3.50 in human biology.

Sophomore Carly Juniga (Paradise Valley, Ariz.), at 3.73, and freshman Gretchen O'Henley (Oakland, Calif.), at 3.59, had yet to declare a major.

As a team, Stanford carried a 3.4639, good for 15th in the nation.

The seven individuals matches the most academic All-Americans for Stanford since nine were recognized in 2004. For Elmore, Pintchouk, and Precourt, it was their fourth such honor. And it was the third for Sprando.
