GATINEAU, Ontario-- Stanford freshman Kristina Vaculik earned a spot on Canada's Olympic gymnastics team after winning the Canadian Olympic Trials in the uneven bars and finishing second in the beam and all-around program over the last three days.
Vaculik opened up the Trials on Tuesday with a win in the bars, edging fellow Olympian Brittany Rogers 14.4 to 14.3. In the all-around, Vaculik scored a 55.9 for second and also had a tally of 13.9 in the beam. The Cardinal freshman was also third in the floor exercise (13.7) and seventh in the vault (13.9).
Last month, the 19-year old won the Canadian all-around, as well as the uneven bars and balance beam at the Canadian National Championships.
Vaculik took the 2012 season off to prepare for the Olympics. She competed for the Cardinal as a freshman in 2011.
