Blog: Women's World Golf Team Championships

Stanford senior Sally Watson is representing her native Scotland in the 2012 Women's World Amateur Team Championship in Antaya, Turkey. The four-day event includes daily rounds on one of Gloria Golf Club's two courses for a 72-hole stroke play event spanning September 27-30.

Watson, an honorable mention All-Pac-12 and first-team All-Pac-12 All-Academic selection in 2012, will be providing updates for gostanford.com throughout the event.

ANTAYA, Turkey - The tournament finished today and the last two rounds went pretty well. I shot 72 on the New Course yesterday and then 71 on the Old Course today. As a result I ended up finishing tied for 29th for the tournament, which considering my poor first round was a respectable finish.

I am really excited about coming back to Stanford and competing this fall. I learned a lot in the first round of the tournament that I was able to use in the last three rounds in which I shot 70, 72 and 71.

After we finished play today we went out to watch the leaders play a few holes and then came back to the hotel to relax and have fun enjoying all the hotel has to offer. We went down the waterslides, went a banana boat (in the sea) and then played the Welsh team in a game of beach vollybal that saw the Scots emerge victorious!

Tonight, we went to the prize ceremony that was followed by an amazing ballet performance by a Turkish group. Then we sat down to a delicious dinner outside in the gardens, a great way to end an amazing week.
