Blog: Women's World Golf Team Championships

Sally Watson

Sally Watson

Sept. 28, 2012

Stanford senior Sally Watson is representing her native Scotland in the 2012 Women's World Amateur Team Championship in Antaya, Turkey. The four-day event includes daily rounds on one of Gloria Golf Club's two courses for a 72-hole stroke play event spanning September 27-30.

Watson, an honorable mention All-Pac-12 and first-team All-Pac-12 All-Academic selection in 2012, will be providing updates for gostanford.com throughout the event.

ANTAYA, Turkey - Today was the second round of the World Golf Team Championship and Scotland played on the New Course with New Zealand and Austria.

I had the opportunity to play with Lydia Ko who is currently the No. 1 ranked female amateur in the world. It was a very interesting experience and enjoyable as both Lydia and the Austrian girl, Anya, were friendly girls. I also played much better today which helps to make the experience even more fun, shooting 70 (-2).

After the round we came back to the hotel and relaxed for a few hours before dinner. Although the Ryder Cup is not on TV in Turkey (or not on the hotel's TVs), we managed to find a website (thank goodness) that is streaming it and so after dinner we watched the Ryder Cup together which is always inspiring. Come on Europe!
