PULLMAN, Wash. - Sally Watson captured the individual title and the Stanford women's golf team carded a final round 292 to finish second at the Cougar Cup hosted by Washington State University.
Watson rebounded from an opening round 79 with rounds of 71 and 70 to win the tournament. She birdied four of the last 12 holes, sinking a 40-foot putt on her final hole to clinch the victory. Her 220 (+4) tied the second-lowest total in tournament history.
The Cardinal's 54-hole hole total of 902 (+38) trailed first place Washington by 12 strokes. The Huskies set a Cougar Cup record with an 890 (+26).
Marissa Mar and freshman Mariko Tumangan, playing her first tournament, tied for eighth (226, +10).
Sydney Burlison, Kristina Wong, and Danielle Frasier finished tied for 14th at 228 (+12).
Lila Barton tied for 38th with a 235 (+19).
