PALOS VERDES, Calif.-- The Stanford women's golf team is in seventh place at 305 after the first round of play at the SMU/OSU Challenge played at the Palos Verdes Golf Course (par 71, 5801 yards) in Palos Verdes, Calif. Last season, Stanford took first place at the Challenge with a 54-hole total 905.
Tulsa and Arizona are tied for first place at five-over par 289. Arizona State is in third place at 294 while Southern California and New Mexico are tied for fourth at 297.
Individually, Stanford freshman Hilary Homeyer is tied for ninth at 73 followed by freshman Stephanie Keever in 16th at 74. Krissie Register is on top individually at three-under par 68 followed by teammate Marisa Baena at 70. Tulsa's Filippa Helmersson and Niina Laitinen are tied for third at 71.
The SMU/OSU Challenge will continue through Wednesday, Feb. 11. Second round action will get underway at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
