STANFORD, Calif.- Junior Nora Soza has been selected as the NorPac Co-Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 27-Nov. 2.
Stanford has been well-represented in the NorPac Player of the Week voting this year, earning a total of seven weekly awards. Five different players have been represented but this is Soza's first honor of the year.
Soza's first career shot attempt resulted in the game-winning goal during Stanford's 2-1 upset overtime victory over No. 16 California on Nov. 1. With the win, Stanford secured the No. 2 seed in this week's NorPac Tournament as the Cardinal aims to defend last year's title.
The junior defender from San Jose scored the game-winner at the 73:20 mark of the first overtime session. Soza was positioned perfectly near the endline, received a quick pass and fired home the goal as Cardinal teammates and fans mobbed her on the field in the middle of a driving rainstorm.
