STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford nearly swept this week's NorPac West Division Player of the Week awards, with Ale Moss and Alex McCawley earning recognition.
The Cardinal finished 2-0 for the week, blanking Pacific 7-0 on Oct. 14 before defeating No. 12 California 3-2 in Berkeley two days later to sweep the season series with the Golden Bears.
As a result, Stanford clinched the NorPac's West Division regular season crown and secured the No. 1 seed in the NorPac Championship, scheduled for Nov. 3-5 at the Varsity Turf. Stanford is the four-time defending champion of the event, defeating California each time in the championship game.
Moss was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week, collecting her first honor of the year. Moss registered her third shutout of the season during the win over Pacific, making three saves. Two days later against California, Moss came up with four saves to preserve Stanford's fifth win over a top-20 opponent.
McCawley was named the Rookie of the Week, earning her fourth honor overall and third over the last four weeks. In two starts, McCawley tallied three shots and two assists, the second of which came on Emily Henriksson's game-winning goal against Cal.
