Stanford Honored With 11 NFHCA Academic Squad Selections

STANFORD, Calif.- For the seventh consecutive season, the Stanford field hockey program has been honored with at least 10 NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) National Academic Squad selections.

This year's list has the Cardinal represented with 11 honorees.

To be recognized as an Academic Squad member a student-athlete has to achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2008-09 academic year.

This year's honorees include: sophomore Heather Alcorn, senior Chloe Bade, sophomore Jaimee Erickson, junior Jennifer Luther, freshman Katie Mitchell, junior Rachel Mozenter, senior Bailey Richardson, junior Marlana Shile, junior Katherine Swank, sophomore Xanthe Travlos and junior Midori Uehara.

Stanford finished 9-11 overall in 2008, advancing to the NCAA Play-in game for the second straight season. The Cardinal was also crowned NorPac Tournament champions for the second year in a row and won seven of its final nine games to close out the season.
