Stanford Defeats UCSB 3-1
Cardinal Claim 13th victory in 15 Matches
BERKELEY, Calif.--The Stanford field hockey team continued its hot streak with a 3-1 win over UC Santa Barbara at Old Maloney Field. The Cardinal, the 1997 NorPac champions, improved to 15-6 on the season with their 13th victory in their last 15 contests.
Freshman midfielder Justina Williams, from nearby San Jose, Calif., posted the second two-goal game of her young career to lead Stanford. Junior Carey Cloyd scored the other Cardinal goal while juniors Monique Leroux and Jordyn Kramer recorded assists. The Stanford defense played superb, allowing UC Santa Barbara just one shot on goal for the entire contest. Lynette Barnes recorded the lone shot and goal for the Gauchos. The Cardinal outshot the Gauchos 18-1.
