Xanthe Travlos scored a pair of goals, pacing a strong second-half surge as No. 15 Stanford cruised past Longwood 6-1 on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2009 NorPac Championship. With the victory, Stanford (15-4, 5-1 NorPac) established a school record for wins in a single season and punched its ticket to Saturday's championship match.

Less than 24 hours after being named the NorPac Player of the Year, junior Xanthe Travlos displayed why she is worthy of such recognition. Travlos notched her second hat trick of the season and third of her career, leading an eye-popping offensive onslaught as the Cardinal dismantled Appalachian State 9-0 in the opening round of the 2009 NorPac Championship at the Varsity Turf.

On the eve of the 12th annual NorPac Championship, the Stanford field hockey program was well-represented with a league-best nine all-conference selections as announced at the annual awards banquet. Among the highlights: junior Xanthe Travlos earning Stanford's second straight Player of the Year honor and freshman Becky Dru extending the Cardinal's stranglehold on the Rookie of the Year award to seven seasons.

Hayley Turner scored a pair of unassisted goals to lead No. 15 Louisville past No. 12 Stanford on Sunday morning in a neutral site contest played at College Park, Md. For the first time this year, Stanford (13-4, 5-1 NorPac) suffered back-to-back defeats after falling 6-2 to No. 1 Maryland on Friday night.

No. 1 Maryland posted its first-ever undefeated regular season in school history, improving to 18-0 with a 6-2 victory over No. 12 Stanford on Friday night in College Park, Md. Despite the loss, Stanford (13-3, 5-1 NorPac) had reason to be pleased with its effort. The Cardinal was within striking distance at halftime, trailing only 3-2. And in a season of mostly blowout victories for defending national champion Maryland, Stanford became one of just five opponents to score more than one goal against the Terps.
