After five years of service, Assistant Coach Carrie Davis has resigned as Stanford's Assistant Women's Crew Coach.
"This is not a decision I came to lightly, but it is one I feel is in the best interest of my family and me," stated Davis. "It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the assistant coach for women's crew at Stanford. I have watched this program rise from near anonymity to its current national standing and am confident that the student-athletes who comprise this Stanford team will continue to foster tremendous success for the program. I look forward to cheering them forward in the years to come."
The 2006 season highlighted some of coach Davis' greatest accomplishments at Stanford. Under her leadership the Varsity Four finished ninth at the NCAA Championships and third at the Pac-10's, the highest finish for this boat in the history of the program. Additionally, her Novice Four won the Pacific Coast Rowing Championship, another first for the program. With her help Stanford Women's Crew secured team bids to the 2002, 2003 and 2006 National Championships, and successfully recruited 28 of the country's top student-athletes.
