USRowing Names Six Crews To 2011 U.S. National Team

STANFORD, Calif. - Former Stanford women's rowing standout Elle Logan '11 was among those selected by USRowing Tuesday to the U.S. National Team that will represent the country at the 2011 World Rowing Championships Aug. 28-Sept. 4 in Bled, Slovenia.

USRowing named the crews to six camp-selected boats (four men's boats, two women's) Tuesday, with Logan being selected as part of the U.S. Women's Eight.

Logan has become a mainstay of the U.S. Eight since helping the crew win the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. This year's world championships will mark the second straight time in which she will be part of the eight at the event, having captured gold last year in New Zealand.

She also earned a silver medal with the U.S. Four at the 2009 championships in Poland.

In her time at Stanford, Logan was a member of the I Eight that captured the individual Pac-10 and NCAA titles in 2009 and finished third in 2011. The boat's effort in 2009 clinched Stanford's first-ever women's rowing team NCAA title. She was named to the CRCA All-America Team four times (2007, 2009-11) in her collegiate career.

USRowing will announce the rest of the senior national team following the 2011 World Rowing Championships trials held Aug. 1-4.
