STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's rowers Grace Luczak, Lindsay Meyer and Julianne Smith were all part of USRowing crews that earned berths at next month's Under 23 World Rowing Championships over the weekend in West Windsor, N.J.

The 2010 U23 World Rowing Championships are set to take place from July 22-25 in Brest, Belarus.

Luczak, rowing in the No. 7 seat of the U.S. U23 Selection Camp Eight, helped the crew earn its berth in a race against a crew from Canada. The Stanford oarswoman from the I Eight will find out if she is headed to the World Rowing Championships when the U23 Eight is officially named on July 9.

"Racing this weekend really gave us an opportunity to evaluate where we are right now," Luczak said. "The boat felt really powerful, but as the announcer kindly said during the race, we were 'a little rough around the edges.' With the eight line-up officially named on July 9 and departure for Belarus less than a month away, we have a few more weeks to find as much speed as possible and "smooth out those edges."

In the women's single sculls, Meyer defeated the competition, winning the final by more than 46 seconds in a time of 7:36.354.

"It was a solid race," Meyer, a 2008 Olympian and part of Stanford's nationally-ranked I Eight, told USRowing after the race. "It's good to be back in a small boat."

Smith, part of the USRowing U23 Selection Camp women's four crew, helped the crew to victory with a time of 6:45.651. That time would end up nearly 18 and a half seconds ahead of the second-place crew from Penn A.C.
