Entering the PAC 10 Championships from a spring season filled with stunning victories and heart-breaking defeats, Stanford is poised and ready for a succession of head-turning performances in their final race of the regular season.
The Stanford Women's Crew team enters the PAC 10 Championship this weekend
ranked fifth in the PAC 10. Individually, the Varsity Eight enters its
biggest race of the season ranked sixth in the conference, along with the
Junior Varsity Eight ranked fourth and the Varsity Four ranked second.
After early season victories by the Varsity and Junior Varsity Eights over
The Ohio State University - ranked fourth in the nation at the time - the
Women's Crew team has maintained a winning season (6-3 overall) tainted
only by a few close defeats. The focal point for the entire team, however,
has been to maintain consistent gains in overall speed throughout the
spring, peaking precisely at the culmination of their racing season, the
PAC 10 Championships. And the Varsity Four, at 6-1 overall, serves as a
testament to the overall depth and strength of Stanford's team this year.
As the team enters this weekend's races, they feel confident that their
training has them well prepared to generate the results they have been
planning for all season. To follow live audio and 500 meter split results, go to http://www.jamcotimes.com/2006/pacten/index.htm.
