Katie Kratzer officially joins the Stanford women's rowing staff in 2010-12 as an assistant coach, after serving as a volunteer assistant last season. Kratzer comes to the program with six years of coaching experience at the high school level, most recently at Pacific Rowing Club.
Kratzer began her coaching career in January 2005 with the Cincinnati Junior Rowing Club, where she remained until July 2010. While at Cincinnati, Kratzer coached both men and women at the novice and varsity levels. She coached boats to regional titles every year, including the team points trophy. Kratzer also qualified boats to Youth Nationals with multiple appearances in the grand finals, including a win in 2008 with the Men's Four. She also assisted on a trip to Henley with the Men's Varsity Eight in 2007.
Kratzer began rowing as a freshman in high school and raced in multiple undefeated regular seasons along with three trips to the Jr. Nationals, highlighted by a win in the Women's Eight in 2003. Kratzer earned a B.S. in design from the University of Cincinnati where she rowed for a brief stint with the Bearcats until she left the sport as an athlete to begin her coaching career.
