December 16, 2006

Finals are finally over. Our two-week break is over, which means we don't have to keep killing each other in practice anymore. We play Utah tomorrow and it's a weird feeling getting ready to play again after what felt like two months. But its sooo good to get started again. Brooke and I were talking about how it almost feels like a new beginning.

It is going to be a new beginning with the start of Pac-10 play. We open up against the LA schools: USC and UCLA. This is definitely my favorite road trip because we get to play in So Cal, which is where I'm from. After that road trip we have a four-day break to go home for Christmas and then come back to Stanford to play the Arizona schools.

Right now we are staying in a hotel since the dorms are closed over Christmas break. I'm sitting in our hotel room chillin' with Ros and Love and we are watching David Letterman. Ros, always the comic, keeps me in tears with her constant jokes and stories. I love being around our team; it really does feel like a family.

I'm also really excited for our volleyball team; they are playing in the national championship game on Saturday against Nebraska. Watching them play is inspirational because you can tell how much they care about one another and how hard they play for each other. My best friend/roommate Franci (Girard) is a middle blocker on the team and I got a chance to talk to her for a bit after their win against Washington in the national semifinals. It's amazing to see how far their team has come over the course of this season, and right now they are playing their best volleyball. Even though our team didn't have the start we wanted, we are working real hard to keep improving so that the end of our season has fulfilled our potential, and is something we can be proud of.
