Stanford women's basketball will travel to Denver for the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship, as announced today by the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee. The Cardinal, ranked 13th in the Associated Press poll and 14th in the USA Today/WBCA poll, was awarded a No. 3 seed in the San Antonio region and will travel to Denver to play 14th-seeded Southeast Missouri.
Stanford (23-7, 15-3 Pac-10) received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will face the automatic qualifier from the Ohio Valley Conference, the Southeast Missouri Redhawks (22-8), this Saturday at 8:30 p.m., MST at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. The Redhawks scored a 71-50 victory over Tennessee Tech in the 2006 O'Reilly OVC Women's Basketball Tournament in Nashville on March 4 to earn the program's first-ever bid in the NCAA Tournament.

If Stanford advances past the Redhawks, the Cardinal will face either #6 Florida State or #11 Louisiana Tech in the second round.
