Cardinal Land Episode 4 - Benergy

Feb. 7, 2013

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's basketball's fourth episode of Cardinal Land introduces fans to assistant sports performance coach Kurtis Rayfield, answers a fan's question about pregame meals and talks about the concept of "Benergy."

The Cardinal and its fans will bring that Benergy to Maples Pavilion this weekend as No. 4/5 Stanford hosts Arizona Friday night at 7 p.m. and Arizona State Sunday at 2 p.m. Sunday's contest against the Sun Devils will be broadcast on Pac-12 Network and serves as the Cardinal's "Pink" game in which the team will sport pink gear and all fans are encouraged to wear pink to show support for breast cancer awareness.

Friday's contest will be streamed online HERE.

This episode also gives fans a closer look at assistant sports performance coach Kurtis Rayfield, who is in his second year at Stanford as a graduate assistant. Rayfield discusses his start in the field, his time with the Chicago Bulls prior to coming to Stanford, and his philosophies in working with the Cardinal players.

Cardinal Land also takes a look at the National Women In Sports Day event that the team hosted Jan. 27 during its contest against Colorado. Fans will see footage from the event and the demonstrations that took place at Maples Pavilion.

Finally, the episode ends with a hidden camera catching junior forward Chiney Ogwumike giving a rousing lip-synched edition of the national anthem.
