LOS ANGELES (AP) - Kristin Folkl scored 18 points and Olympia Scott added 16
as No. 11 Stanford handed Southern Cal its worst loss of the season, 89-55 in a
Pac-10 conference game Friday night.
Stanford improved to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the Pac-10.
The Women of Troy (6-8, 1-4) lost despite a game-high 20 points from Kristin
Clark.
"We didn't do a good enough job of making it difficult for them," USC
coach Chris Gobrecht said. "That's the price of learning pains of the
defense."
Stanford never trailed and had a 33-8 lead less than 12 minutes into the
game. The Cardinal, shooting 61 percent from the field, took a 47-21 lead at
halftime.
Stanford's biggest lead was 42 points, 71-29, with 8:24 left in the second
half.
"This game gave us the chance to give some of our younger players more
experience,' Stanford coach Tara Vanderveer said. "We handled the press well
and got valuable contributions from the bench."
Heather Owen added eight points and 10 rebounds for Stanford.
