Stanford Upsets No. 5 Illinois

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, IL - Olympia Scott had 26 points, six rebounds and five assists and
Vanessa Nygaard added 24 points and six boards as 18th-ranked
Stanford pulled away for a 91-78 victory over number five
Illinois.
Milena Flores tallied 17 points and Melody Paterson added 15 and
seven assists for Stanford (2-3), which shot 54 percent
(14-for-26) from the field in the first half to take a 40-38
edge at the break. Scott made a pair of free throws to give the
Cardinal the lead for good, 71-70, with 5:40 to play.
Tauja Catchings had 15 points and nine rebounds and Ashley
Berggren added 14 and 10 off the bench for Illinois (4-4), which
lost all three games this week and will fall drastically in the
rankings.
Illinois closed within 84-78 when Berggren made a layup with 78
seconds to go. But the Cardinal hit 7-of-10 free throws in the
final 61 seconds to seal the win.
