STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Vanessa Nygaard scored 32 points, including six 3-pointers, and No. 6 Stanford turned its Pac-10 showdown with UCLA into a runaway by defeating the Bruins 105-80 Thursday night.

Kristin Folkl, playing with a splint over two broken fingers on her right hand, had 19 points in her return from a one-game absence. Milena Flores added 18 points and Olympia Scott 14 as the Cardinal (14-5, 10-1 Pac-10) reached a season high in points and tightened their hold on first place in the conference.

It was the most points given up by the Bruins all season. Stanford has now won eight straight overall and 62 league games in a row at Maples Pavilion.

Maylana Martin led UCLA (14-7, 9-3) with 14 points. The Bruins had their five-game winning streak snapped and missed a chance to pass Stanford in the conference race. Marie Philman and Tawana Grimes had 12 points apiece.

After an initial surge by UCLA, Stanford was dominant. The Cardinal outscored UCLA 74-36 from 12:00 of the first until 6:31 remained in the game, when Nygaard's jumper made the lead 89-58.

Up 64-54, Stanford took off on a 15-0 run to put the game away. Scott had eight points during the flurry, including a fastbreak layup capping the surge that put Stanford in front 79-54 with 9:20 remaining.

The Cardinal's lead reached 30 points, 87-57, when Nygaard connected on her sixth 3-pointer of the game.

Both teams shot 60 percent in the first half with Stanford taking a 50-41 lead.

With UCLA leading 22-15, Nygaard hit a 3-pointer to ignite a 17-4 run over a five-minute span that put the Cardinal in front 32-26. The Bruins cut it to 38-33 on Janae Hubbard's 6-foot hook shot but Nygaard rebuilt the lead to nine when she drained another 3-pointer with five seconds remaining in the opening period.
