Women's Basketball Breezes by Washington State

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Super sub Kristin Folkl sparked the go-ahead rally
and led all scorers with 22 points as No. 13 Stanford beat Washington State
91-53 Thursday night.
Olympia Scott added 16 points for the Cardinal (9-5 overall, 6-1 Pac-10).
The Cougars dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-4.
In a sloppily played game marred by a total of 57 turnovers, including 31 in
the first half, Washington State's starters only could muster eight points in
the second half.
Folkl dominated inside against Washington State (8-7, 2-4), pulling down six
rebounds and making seven of eight shots, mostly from close range, in 25
minutes.
Scott, who also had six rebounds, scored 10 points in the first five minutes
of the second half as Stanford pulled steadily away with a 23-10 run in a span
of 9:09.
The Cougars led 10-4 four minutes into the game, but Stanford roared back
with a 10-0 run - the first five points by Folkl - to lead 14-10. The Cardinal
led thereafter.
Washington State was led by center Yvonne Kunze's 11 points. Vanessa Nygaard
added 13 for Stanford.
