Amy Tucker Last College: Ohio State, 1982 Position: Associate Head Coach Experience: 29th season

Amy Tucker, who led the Cardinal to the NCAA Final Four as interim head coach in 1995-96, enters her 29th season at Stanford and currently serves as the program's associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.

One of the nation's top recruiters and an excellent evaluator of talent, Tucker has been responsible for assembling several top-five recruiting classes during her tenure at Stanford. Among the notable recruits Tucker has helped bring to The Farm are a pair of Wade Trophy Players of the Year in Jennifer Azzi (1990) and Candice Wiggins (2008) and two Naismith National Players of the Year in Azzi (1990) and Kate Starbird (1997). Eleven of Tucker's recruits have also gone on to earn WBCA and Associated Press first-team All-America selections.

Overall, Tucker's prowess on the recruiting trail has resulted in Stanford women's basketball players earning not only the aforementioned two Wade Trophies and two Naismith National Player of the Year Awards, but also 22 State Farm/Kodak/WBCA first-team All-America selections. In 2011-12, sisters Nnemkadi and Chiney Ogwumike were named to the WBCA Coaches' All-America Team, marking the second time in Stanford history that two players were named to the team in the same season.

Working with Stanford's post players, Tucker has overseen the year-to-year improvements in production from All-Americans such as Jayne Appel, Chiney Ogwumike, Nnemkadi Ogwumike and Kayla Pedersen in recent years, as well as to Stanford's entire frontcourt being named to the All-Pac-10 Team in 2010 and 2011. Under Tucker's tutelage, five Stanford front-line players (Appel, Chiney Ogwumike, Nnemkadi Ogwumike, Nicole Powell, Val Whiting) have earned multiple State Farm/Kodak All-America Team selections and all have been named Pac-10 or Pac-12 Player of the Year.

Since the inaugural season of Pac-10 women's basketball play in 1986-87, Tucker has helped guide Stanford players to 17 Pac-12 Player of the Year awards (won by a total of 10 players), nine Pac-12 Freshman of the Year awards, 60 All-Pac-12 first-team selections, 27 Pac-12 All-Freshman team picks and 64 Pac-12 All-Academic selections. Through 2012-13, each of those figures stands as the conference record in its respective category.

An excellent strategist, Tucker has helped guide the Cardinal to a 205-19 (.915) record and five straight trips to the Final Four from 2008-12, making Stanford one of four programs to appear in five straight Final Fours.

An original member of VanDerveer's coaching staff in her inaugural year in 1985-86, Tucker has held the post of associate head coach since the 1996-97 season.

As an assistant coach from 1985-90, Tucker was instrumental in Stanford's rise from a record of 13-15 in 1985-86 to a 27-5 record and Pac-10 title just two years later and finally to the historic 1989-90 season in which the Cardinal went 32-1 and claimed the program's first national championship. Following that championship season, Tucker was promoted to associate coach, a title she held from 1990 through the 1994-95 season.

During that span, Tucker helped guide Stanford to four of the next five Pac-10 titles and an overall mark of 78-12 in conference play. Stanford would go on to reach three more Final Fours (1991, 1992 and 1995) and win its second national title in 1992. That 1992 team would end the campaign with a 30-3 overall mark and a 78-62 victory over Western Kentucky in the NCAA Championship Game.

When current head coach Tara VanDerveer was tabbed to lead the U.S. National/Olympic Team during the 1995-96 campaign and for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Tucker was named interim head coach along with co-head coach Marianne Stanley. Together, the duo guided Stanford to a 29-3 overall record and the program's fifth NCAA Final Four appearance of the 1990s. The Cardinal set a school and conference record with 23 consecutive victories, a perfect 18-0 record in Pac-10 play for the second time in conference history and the school's seventh Pac-10 title in eight seasons. For their efforts, Tucker and Stanley shared UPI (United Press International) National Coach of the Year and Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors.

Upon VanDerveer's return to the Cardinal program in 1996-97, Tucker assumed her current title of Associate Head Coach. Over that span Tucker has helped oversee six more trips to the Final Four, including berths in the NCAA Championship Game in 2008 and 2010. The Cardinal has also posted eight more seasons of at least 30 victories during that time, highlighted by five straight 30-win seasons from 2007-12 and a program-record 36 wins in 2009-10. In fact, Stanford's 201 victories since 2006-07 stands as the highest win total in any five-year span in program history.

During Tucker's tenure, Stanford has won two NCAA titles and reached 11 Final Fours. The Cardinal has reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in 19 of the last 25 seasons and made 16 Elite Eight appearances over that time, as well.

Tucker began her coaching career soon after completing a successful four-year playing career (1978-82) at Ohio State University. She joined VanDerveer's Ohio State staff as a graduate assistant coach in 1983-84, and a year later, was promoted to assistant coach. In the two years that Tucker served on the Buckeye staff, she helped guide OSU to a 50-10 (.833) mark and a pair of appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including a run to the Elite Eight in 1985.

As a player, Tucker led the Buckeyes to a 72-51 record and twice paced the team in scoring, finishing her career second on Ohio State's all-time scoring list with 1,629 points. Through the end of the 2010-11 campaign, Tucker's career scoring output continues to hold a place in the Ohio State top 10, ranking eighth in Buckeye women's basketball history. She also finished her career atop the school's all-time list for games played with 123, a mark that stood for 14 years.

As a senior in 1981-82, Tucker was named Ohio State's captain and led the squad to the Big Ten Tournament title and an appearance in the inaugural edition of the NCAA Tournament.

In August 2011 Tucker was announced as a member of the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2012. She was formally inducted on May 19, 2012. Tucker was previously recognized for her achievements by being inducted into the Ohio State Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.

Tucker graduated with her bachelor's degree in social work from Ohio State in 1982. In 1984, she earned a master's degree from Ohio State in sports management and administration.
