***OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDALIST***

• Bronze medalist batted .242 (8-for-33) in eight Olympic contests, while tying for second on Team USA with four doubles and tying for third with five RBI...the former Cardinal slugger also belted one of Team USA's 10 home runs...Team USA captured a bronze medal in the final Olympic baseball competition, rallying from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Japan 8-4...the Americans finished the tournament with a 6-3 record, winning five of their last six games...in the bronze medal game, Team USA erased an early 4-1 hole by scoring three runs in the third inning to tie, then erupting for a four-run fifth to put the game away...(posted: Aug. 23)

• Was hitless in four at-bats as Team USA fell to Cuba 10-2 in one of two semifinal games last night...The Americans still have a shot at bringing home a medal in the final Olympic baseball competition, as they will face Japan in the bronze medal game first pitch at 7:30pm PT tonight - 10:30am Saturday morning in Beijing)...After dropping a 5-4, 11-inning contest to Cuba in preliminary round play, Team USA kept this game close as well until the later innings...The Americans pulled within 3-2 with a run in the top of the fifth, but Cuba plated one in the sixth then scored six times in the bottom of the eighth to blow the game open...(posted: Aug. 22)

• Went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in Team USA's 4-2 victory over Chinese Taipei...The victory clinched Team USA's berth in the semifinals with one preliminary round game remaining...With the score knotted at 1-1, Gall led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run that put the U.S. in front by a run, and started a rally which saw the American side take a 3-1 lead...Later, with Team USA holding on to a 3-2 lead in the eighth, Gall led off the frame with a double and came around to score the insurance run on Jason Donald's base hit two batters later...Team USA (4-2) will now face Japan Wednesday morning at 4 a.m. PT. • Former Cardinal outfielder (1996-2000) earned a spot on the 24-man roster for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Baseball Team, becoming the seventh Olympian associated with the Stanford Baseball program...enjoyed a prolific four-year career on The Farm, and is still the program's all-time leader in hits (356), doubles (80) and RBI (263)...a three-time First Team All-Pac-10 performer, he also ranks among Stanford's all-time leaders in batting average (3rd - .358), games (3rd - 251), at-bats (2nd - 1,027), runs (7th - 214) and home runs (T3rd - 46)...a two-year veteran of international competition with Team USA (1998 and '99), he is currently enjoying a stellar 2008 season with Triple-A Albuquerque in the Florida Marlins organization...(posted: Aug. 1)
