Jillian Camarena

In the women's shot put, Camarena qualified for the final round after a toss of 60-8 ¾. Camarena finished with the 12th best throw during the opening rounds.

In the final, Camarena also finished 12th with a throw of 59-10 ¼. Camarena finished as the top American in the competition won by Vili Valerie of New Zealand.

Camarena (2000-04) is competing in her first Olympics for the United States...She was the 2002 and 2004 Pac-10 Champion in the shot put...She is the Stanford record holder in the event with a toss of 59-6 ¾...A seven-time All-American for the Cardinal with three indoors in the shot put, three outdoors in the shot put, and one in the discus...She finished third at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the shot put with a throw of 59-5 ½ to earn the trip to Beijing.
