Stanford, Calif. - Stanford 174-pounder Luke Feist has been invited to compete in the 42nd annual NWCA All-Star Classic in Eugene, Ore., on Monday night at 7 p.m. at MacArthur Court. The event is sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps.

The All-Star Classic creates an opportunity for two of the top wrestlers in each weight class to compete. Feist will be facing Oregon's Ron Lee in one of two exhibition matches at the event.

Feist is a two-time Pac-10 placewinner who is coming off of the most successful season of his career. As a sophomore in 2006-07, he won 25 matches and qualified for his first NCAA Championship. He wrestled nine ranked opponents, and got his first win over one when he stunned No. 11 Matt Palmer of Columbia in January.

Feist, who finished fourth in the Pac-10 last season, will battle Lee in an exhibition match. Lee finished fifth the conference last season, and was defeated by Feist in the first round of the Pac-10 Championships, 9-7.

Last season, Stanford's Tanner Gardner competed at the All-Star Classic in Dallas, Texas. Matt Gentry also competed in the All-Star Classic in 2003.

The meet is being held in the Pacific Northwest for the first time in 17 years. Ironically, Oregon has announced it will drop wrestling after this season. A large crowd is expected for the All-Star match in part on its own merits and in an attempt to show support for the sport in the Oregon area.
