STANFORD, Calif. -- The Stanford wrestling team spent last Saturday morning giving back to the community at St. Anthony's Church and Soup Kitchen in Menlo Park, Calif. Among other things, the team leveled and spread gravel, constructed a path on the grounds and spread wood chips in an area designated for a vegetable garden.

A focus of this year's Cardinal team is to give back to the community. The team is fortunate to have the benefits it enjoys at Stanford University and wants to share this with the community and those in need.

The team is looking for more volunteer activities and encourages any groups interested in having the team provide its time to contact Matt Gentry at mgentry@stanford.edu or call (650) 723-9486.

Stanford opens the 2009-10 season with its annual wrestle-offs, Firday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at Burnham Pavilion in Stanford, Calif. The Cardinal's first home dual meet is Friday, Dec. 18 against Wyoming at 6:30 p.m.
