June 15, 2006

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford wrestling volunteer coach and 2004 NCAA Champion Matt Gentry will represent Canada this weekend at the seventh World University Wrestling Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Gentry, a dual citizen with the United States and Canada, qualified for the event with a first-place finish at the Canadian University Championship at 74 kg in May. Gentry also qualified for the Pan American Championships, which were held in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month. He finished in fifth place despite an injury.

Ulaanbaatar, situated on the bank of Tuul river, is a city with historical traditions and represents the center of Mongolian policy, economy, finance and education. The capital city is the hub of international and domestic flights, train service and long distance buses. As the cultural and academic center of the nation, Ulaanbaatar has major art and cultural establishments and museums. Monasteries are the integral part of the city.
