Stanford, Calif. - Nine Stanford wrestlers are headed to Akron, Ohio this weekend to compete in the ASICS University National Championships hosted by the University of Akron at the Athletics Field House.

Competition begins tomorrow at 9 a.m. and continues through Sunday. The event, which is for athletes born between 1983 and 1989, will include some of Stanford's top wrestlers, including six 2006-07 starters and two-time All-American Tanner Gardner.

Gardner will join teammates Zack Giesen, Cameron Teitelman, Matt Kim, Tyler Parker, Phillip Doerner, Eric Minnick, Lucas Espericueta and Anton Scherba at the competition.

Finalists will qualify for the 2007 Senior World Team Trials in Las Vegas, Nev., June 8-10, 2007.
