STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford wrestling alum Matt Gentry ('05) qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games, Sunday, by capturing gold at the Pan Am Olympic Qualification tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.

Gentry, representing his home country of Canada, took home the free style gold at 74 kg by defeating Francisco Soler of Puerto Rico in the finals 6-0, 7-0.

Gentry reached the finals after scoring a last-second takedown to defeat Yunierki Blanco of Cuba, 2-1, 0-3, 1-1, in the semifinals.

The 2012 Olympic Games, held in London, England, are set to take place from July 27 - Aug. 12.
