STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford redshirt freshman Evan Silver was one of 44 wrestlers to receive an at-large berth into the 2013 NCAA Championships, the NCAA announced today.

Silver, who competes at 125 pounds, was the only wrestler from the Pac-12 Conference to receive an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships, held March 21-23 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Silver leads the Cardinal this season with a 25-13 overall record and a 16-6 mark in duals. He has posted four major decisions and two falls on the season. His 25 wins ties Lucas Espericueta and Ryan Mango for the fifth all-time by a freshman in school history.

The at-large selections were made by the Division I Wrestling Committee using the following selection criteria: head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, rating percentage index, coaches ranking, qualifying event placement, and number of matches contested at that weight class.

Joining Silver in Des Moines next week are juniors Bret Baumbach and Dan Scherer. Baumbach captured his first Pac-12 title on March 2 at 165 pounds, while Scherer finished fourth at heaveyweight at the conference tournament to receive automatic bids into the championships.
